ICT
Information and Communication Technology within the Cathedral School is a well resourced subject that allows for continuous progression throughout a young person's time at our school. It is our aim to equip them with the skills and knowledge that they will need in their future education and ultimately in their chosen careers.
ICT teaching begins in the Nursery Department where our children begin to learn the basic concepts of mouse and keyboard control in an enjoyable and fun way. In the Infant Department pupils have access to individual laptops wirelessly linked to our network for their weekly ICT lessons that ensures rapid development in a wide range of essential skills.
In both the Junior and Senior School pupils are taught in one of three main ICT suites each equipped with an interactive whiteboard. Study skills are further enhanced by access to a wide range of multimedia CD-Rom titles and filtered broadband internet access. Cross curricular ICT is supported by dedicated Design & Technology and Music ICT suites as well as many classrooms with interactive whiteboards.
GCSE results are far above the National averages with pupils having the option of studying for the full or short course GCSE.
Pupils in the senior section are supported through the medium of a virtual learning environment allowing them to submit or access their work, homework, feedback and grades from any computer in the world that has an internet connection.
