Cathedral Worship
In many ways the Cathedral at Llandaff is our home as a school. We are enormously privileged to be able to worship in this ancient and magnificent building, which can hardly fail to lift the heart and inspire the mind.
The school (Junior and Senior Sections) worships in the Cathedral every week, by kind permission of the Dean and Chapter. The school service includes an act of penitence, a responsorial psalm, a reading from Scripture and prayers for the world. This service takes place on a Thursday at 8.40 am, for just 15 minutes. Anyone is welcome to the school service on any Thursday.
Twice each term there is a celebration of the Eucharist (also known as Holy Communion, or Mass) for pupils in Junior and Senior Sections. The Eucharist is a service of thanksgiving, in which our hopes and fears, joys and sorrows are offered in thankfulness to God. Pupils are able to receive Holy Communion if they are confirmed, or if they normally receive Holy Communion in their home church. Pupils who have not been confirmed can join preparation classes for an annual Confirmation Service conducted by the Bishop.
The school's choristers lead choral worship in the Cathedral throughout the week during term time and at major festivals: Monday at 6pm (Girls), Tuesday at 6pm (Boys), Wednesday at 5.30pm (Girls), Friday at 6pm (Boys), Saturday at 6pm (Boys), Sunday at 11am and 3.30pm (Boys).
