Choirs and Singing

The School choirs range from the Junior Choirs to the Senior Chamber Choir which is an SATB choir of some 30 voices. Other choirs include the Year Two Choir, Junior Boys' Choir, Junior Girls' Choir, Cantemus, Middle School Chamber Choir and ‘A Cappella'.  Recent performances by the Senior Chamber Choir have included the Fauré Requiem, Carmina Burana (Carl Orff) and ‘Pirates of Penzance' (Gilbert and Sullivan).

Individual singing lessons are given to a wide range of pupils and there are two singing teachers on the staff. Pupils are able to take Associated Board examinations in singing if they wish. The whole School sings once or twice every week in the Junior and Senior Hymn Practices, together with the Thursday morning service at Llandaff Cathedral.

One of the most popular events on the School calendar is the annual Senior House Singing Competition.  Held this year at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama's stunning new venue, the three Houses wowed the audience with a mix of House Choir Unison songs and ‘A Cappella' performances from more than 100 pupils.
