School Chapel
The school has a very fine chapel, designed by lwan Christian in 1861. The chapel is used for prayer and worship, and is open throughout the day for the use of pupils, staff and parents who are seeking quietness, solace and a place for contemplation. Morning Prayer is offered in the Chapel daily, at 8.05 am, and all members of the school community are welcome to attend. The service lasts just 10 minutes, is quite low-key and informal (following a short order for Morning Prayer from the Benedictine tradition) and prayer requests left in the chapel the previous day are offered to God.
The chapel seats 65 people. It has at its heart an icon commissioned for the school's 50th year on its current site, of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Nicolas, patron saints of the Woodard schools. This icon, of the Mother of all Christians along with the Patron Saint of Children, provides a focal point for prayer and contemplation within the chapel.
The Eucharist is celebrated in Chapel at least once a week, and all Senior Section pupils are welcome to attend.
