Senior Boys and Girls Sport

A considerable number of hours are dedicated to sport in the Cathedral School.  In Year 7, pupils have two hours per week of physical education lessons.  Each one hour lesson consists of an ‘outdoor' activity and an ‘indoor' activity.  The ‘outdoor' activity is the major seasonal game which will also be their games activity i.e. rugby for boys and hockey for girls in the Michaelmas Term, football for boys and netball for girls in the Lent Term and cricket for boys and rounders for girls in the Summer Term.  The indoor activities run throughout the year are summed up below.

House matches are organised in all major sporting activities giving pupils a further opportunity to develop their competitive instincts.  The tournaments are generally organised at the end of term and prove ever popular with pupils and staff.

The School is determined to continue building on this strong foundation of sporting success, encouraging as many pupils as possible to represent their school in as many sports as possible.  Sport will always remain a vital part of education and we feel it is essential that we retain our depth, excellence and variety of sport.
