Wind Instruments

There are four wind teachers and opportunities exist to learn the standard orchestral instruments as well as saxophone and recorder. The flute is particularly popular and there are two flute ensembles of differing levels of ability for seniors and juniors. The wind players also have the opportunity to join the various ensembles in the School and the Orchestra, Concert Band and Swing Band. Some members of staff also play in these ensembles as well and this encourages the pupils to even greater efforts! Recently, an Early Music Group has started and is giving frequent performances in concerts and in Assembly. There is a link with the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and pupils have come from there to give master classes and concerts for our woodwind players.
