“No ordinary school…”
This booklet introduces the ethos of the Cathedral School’s
Infant and Junior Sections. I am very proud of what
the Primary Phase offers, which I have experienced
both as a teacher and as a parent.
When selecting a primary school we are looking for
teachers who care, give of their best, go the extra mile
and are wholehearted in their commitment to their pupils.
We are looking for high academic standards, the assurance
that our child’s particular strengths and weaknesses
will be recognised and understood, and that he/she will
be supported and challenged so that significant progress
is made at each new stage. And because education is
much more than exams, we recognise the major contribution
made by music, sport, adventure and so many other
activities to our child’s development.
Our aim is to prepare children to enter the Senior Section
with the academic foundations, positivity of mind and breadth
of interests which set the right context for them to make
rapid progress towards the challenges of A levels,
university entrance and life beyond school.
