Infants (Ages 4-7) Activities and Beyond School Care
We offer a large number of activities to the children in the Infant Department to complement the formal curriculum. Instrumental and individual music lessons are available as an extra from Year 1, although some exceptional children start before this. The range of instruments offered by the music department is extremely wide. The music teachers encourage the children to join an ensemble as soon as possible and to perform if they wish to. Speech and Drama lessons are offered for small groups and often lead to LAMDA exams as well as performances in school. Ballet and tap lessons start in Nursery and are taken by a specialist dance teacher.
Activities are also available after the end of the school day. These run for an hour and are taken by teachers, teaching assistants and external tutors. They may include cookery, chess, art and craft, typing, ICT robots, outdoor games, gymnastics, model building, sketching, library activities, board games and word games.
Care is provided from 8.00am until 6.00pm. A breakfast club operates in the main Refectory from 8.00-8.30am. Children are able to eat a cooked breakfast or just be supervised by qualified staff. At the end of the school day, homework and story clubs are available. Children may be booked into these in advance but will also be delivered safely to the appropriate club for their age group if they are not collected at the end of school. After 4.30pm, the children join After School Care to play games, take part in art and craft activities, read and relax.
All activities are run by qualified staff, many of whom are full time members of the Infant Department, who provide high quality care in a happy, well-supervised and secure setting.
