Strings

There is a String Chamber Group in the School but, in the main, our String players work in the larger ensembles and, ultimately, Senior Orchestra. The String players in the Senior Orchestra are given an extra rehearsal a week with a String teacher when bowing and technique are discussed in detail, something which is not always possible in the full orchestra rehearsals.

In addition, we have a flourishing new Cello department, including the provision of dedicated Junior and Senior Cello Ensembles.

The Cathedral School benefits through regular workshops and visits by members of Caradog String Quartet, providing enrichment opportunities throughout the age-range.

Double bass players are encouraged to join the School Jazz Band once they reach a sufficient level.
