Hockey

Hockey is one of the three major sports the girls are involved with at The Cathedral School. We have teams from every year group, from Year 4 to 11, competing against independent and state schools locally and from further afield. We participate in many tournaments and leagues at both county and national levels and a number of our pupils represent Cardiff and the Vale schools. We have also fielded boys and mixed hockey teams on a number of occasions.

Full commitment is expected to both lunchtime and after-school practices where importance is emphasised on the improvement of both skills and game understanding.

The School boasts a number of experienced and qualified hockey coaches fully committed to delivering enjoyable and structured sessions during lessons and after school activities.  We have two exceptionally well maintained grass pitches on the school site and often make use of local Astroturf facilities to further develop our pupils skills and tactical awareness.

We have started to acquire a reputation in the local area for the quality of hockey played at the School.  The results attained clearly reflect the standards achieved in this sport.
