A Joyful Evening of Faith at Llandaff Cathedral

On Wednesday evening, pupils, families, staff, and friends gathered at Llandaff Cathedral for a wonderful Confirmation Service led by Bishop Mary. In a moving and memorable celebration, 18 candidates were confirmed and six received the sacrament of Baptism, publicly affirming their faith and commitment to following Christ.

The candidates have reflected movingly about what their faith means to them. One pupil described confirmation as a way of trusting that God will always be there through life’s challenges. Another reflected on wanting to grow closer to God and seek His direction when making important decisions. Several of the candidates highlighted the importance of showing kindness, respect, and care for others, while expressing a desire to become active members of the Church community.

Many of the young people shared how the school environment - through worship, Religious Studies lessons, chapel services, and the choir - has helped them explore questions of faith and develop a deeper understanding of Christianity. They also expressed gratitude for the invaluable support of their families, friends, and teachers.

A particular highlight of the evening was the contribution of the Chapel Choir, whose beautiful singing added dignity and created a deeply prayerful atmosphere. Their music served as a wonderful reminder of the vital role that worship and song play within our school community.

Our School Chaplain, Canon Gareth Rayner-Williams was delighted by the occasion and said that "the service was a significant milestone in the spiritual journey of these young people and a wonderful witness to the vibrant faith that continues to flourish within our school."

We warmly congratulate all those who were baptised and confirmed, and we pray that they continue to grow in faith, hope, and love in the years ahead.
