There was a real buzz of excitement at CSL just before half term as we hosted the ESU Performing Shakespeare Regional Final. After progressing through two competitive rounds, performers arrived ready to battle it out for a place in the Grand Final at the Globe Theatre.
Our fantastic hosts, Shay C and Lauren L, kept the evening running smoothly, entertaining the audience with Shakespeare facts and a selection of (deliberately!) terrible jokes.
Year 8 pupils Henry M and Matthew W opened the performances with the only duologue of the night, delivering a powerful and energetic interpretation of Macbeth, praised by judges for its intensity and skilful choreography. Later, Year 9 pupil and last year’s winner Elsie M took to the stage with a confident and comedic portrayal of Mistress Page from The Merry Wives of Windsor, making excellent use of movement and timing.
The judges praised the outstanding standard of all performances and the professionalism of the hosts. Following thoughtful feedback, Elise was announced as the winner - an exceptional achievement. She will now go on to perform at the Grand Final at the Globe Theatre in June.
A huge congratulations to all who took part and thank you to all the parents for their continued support. We’re already looking forward to next year!
