Year 12 take on Gold Practice Expedition

Last weekend, Year 12 completed their Gold Practice Expedition, experiencing a full range of weather conditions across three challenging days.

Day one saw them setting off from Crickhowell in horizontal rain and strong winds, while day two brought gusty conditions as they navigated along the mountain ridge towards Llanthony Priory. Thankfully, day three rewarded everyone with blue skies and much-improved walking conditions.

Throughout the expedition, the students worked exceptionally well as teams, encouraging one another and sharing navigation responsibilities effectively. There are still some areas for improvement, particularly in team organisation - remembering all the tent components proved challenging for some groups - and there were a few debatable examples of footwear along the way! Overall, however, the expedition was a great success and provided excellent preparation for their Gold Qualifying Expedition in September.
