Beyond the Classroom

School trips continue to play a vital role in enriching pupils’ experiences, offering opportunities to develop confidence and independence beyond the classroom. Over the Easter break, our Senior pupils headed to the slopes in Passo Tonale and Year 7 enjoyed a multi-sports tour to Belfast.

The ski trip saw 93 pupils and 11 teachers enjoy a week of adventure and challenge in Italy. Conditions throughout the week were excellent, with consistently good snow allowing pupils of all abilities to make the most of their time on the slopes.

The hotel proved to be a real highlight, not least because of the outstanding food, which was enjoyed by pupils and staff alike after long and rewarding days of skiing. The ski instructors were nothing short of brilliant, providing expert guidance and encouragement while ensuring that all pupils were able to challenge themselves in a safe, fun and supportive environment.

While there were many memorable moments on the slopes, the standout highlight for many was the incredible buyin to the karaoke evening. The enthusiasm and volume alone would have given the Live Aid concert of the 1980s a serious run for its money.

Our younger pupils also had the opportunity to take part in a busy and rewarding multi-sports tour, combining competitive fixtures with opportunities for fun and team bonding.

The girls took part in a netball tournament at Holywood Netball Club, where they showcased impressive skill and teamwork, thoroughly enjoying the experience. The hockey match against Dromore Hockey Club was equally enjoyable; despite tired legs, the girls demonstrated determination and resilience throughout. Meanwhile, the boys competed in two highly competitive rugby matches against Dromore Rugby Club, showing great commitment. Their football match against Rosario Football Club provided another highlight, with pupils displaying fantastic skill and enthusiasm.

Beyond the sports fixtures, pupils also enjoyed additional activities including a visit to Go Air Trampoline Park and a bowling trip, adding to the fun and team bonding. The trip concluded with a scenic visit to Giant’s Causeway and a relaxing afternoon on the beach in Portrush.

A huge thanks to all of the staff whose commitment and care ensured both trips were such a success and special praise to the pupils who were exceptionally behaved and were a true credit to the School.
