We were delighted to welcome pupils and colleagues from Cardiff 6th Form College, Howell’s School and St John’s College to the Memorial Hall on Tuesday.
Having enjoyed their coffee and welshcakes on arrival, attendees settled into their seats ready to hear the presentation delivered by Dr Jonathan Padley, Admissions Tutor for Churchill College, Cambridge, our Link College in that University. Dr Padley discussed what made Cambridge special as a university and the kind of students Admissions Departments were looking for. He then described the unique application process, pointing out key dates and requirements. Finally, he explained how an applicant might try to make their application stand out from the crowd. Questions were invited from the floor, and pupils had the chance to chat with him and to discuss particular concerns. The Cathedral School has enjoyed a long relationship with the College; every year pupils have visited and stayed in their student accomodation, experiencing first-hand what living as a student in Churchill College might be like. We would like to thank Dr Padley both for his continued commitment to the School as well as for this talk, and we look forward to many more years of close cooperation to give our pupils the best possible chances of making a successful application.
