Senior Open Morning
Wednesday 18 March 2026
Pupils have been celebrating Welsh culture, language and creativity through our annual Eisteddfod competitions.
In Seniors, the event began with a reading of Hiraeth by Andrew Challis before pupils took to the stage for poetry readings, comedy sketches and House competitions. The standard of the poetry competition was particularly high, with nine pupils sharing poems on the theme of Welsh Pride. The afternoon also included a Welsh landmarks quiz, a lively Welsh Hall of Fame tribute, and a spirited whole-room singalong of Yma o Hyd before finishing with the Welsh National Anthem, but not before the Chairing of the Bard and announcing Teilo House as the overall winners.
In Juniors, pupils embraced the celebratory atmosphere with a range of competitions and performances, showcasing their creativity, teamwork and pride in Welsh culture. From recitation and singing to art and class entries, it was wonderful to see so many pupils taking part and supporting one another.
Our Infant Eisteddfod was full of colour and creativity, with beautiful daffodils, dragon collages and photographs of Wales brightening the displays. Pupils in Early Years performed traditional Welsh songs including Un Bys, Dau Bys and Lliwiau’r Enfys, while Year 1 and Year 2 delighted with their musical performances and poetry recitals. Congratulations to all our competition finalists, including our Infant Bard for a wonderful dragon-themed poem.
Da iawn to everyone who took part in this joyful celebration of Welsh heritage!
