Gould Cup & Willis Plate

On the last day of the Lent term, we hosted the annual Gould Cup and Willis Plate Cross Country races. Unfortunately, due to the poor weather conditions in the morning, the Infant race was postponed, but with conditions improving significantly throughout the day, the course dried out in time for the afternoon races, allowing both Junior and Senior competitors to enjoy fair yet suitably testing running conditions.
The Junior races were contested with great enthusiasm, determination, and energy, setting an impressive tone for the afternoon. In the Junior Willis Plate, Verity M delivered an excellent performance to take first place, with Mali Nfinishing closely behind in second and Phoebe T securing third. The Junior Gould Cup race was equally competitive, with William M producing a strong run to claim the overall win, James D finishing in second place, and Harry G completing the podium in third. All of the Junior runners showed admirable resilience, commitment, and sportsmanship throughout their races.
The Senior events continued in the same competitive spirit and produced some excellent performances. In the Senior Willis Plate, Sophia D ran a strong and composed race to secure first place, followed by Grace M in second and Rosemary E in third. The Senior Gould Cup also featured an impressive performance from Oscar H, who claimed first place, while Rhys W finished second and Ben B came close behind in third.
Overall, the event was a great success and a fitting showcase of the commitment, endurance, and competitive spirit of all those involved. Every race was run in an excellent spirit, and the afternoon highlighted not only individual achievement but also the enthusiasm and determination of all participants. Congratulations to all the runners on their performances, and sincere thanks to the staff and supporters who helped ensure the smooth running and success of the event.
After rescheduling (twice) due to poor weather, the conditions were beautiful for our Infant Gould Cup and Willis Plate cross-country event this morning.
Well done to each and every pupil; it was wonderful to see everyone participate with such enthusiasm and for the encouraging support provided by parents and families.
A special thank you goes to Miss Sanders for organising the morning as well as the sports staff and coaches for motivating and training the pupils.
