Following their victory at our IET Faraday® Challenge Day earlier this year, a team of CSL pupils travelled to the national final in London, where they achieved an outstanding second place, just one point behind the winning team.
To put this remarkable result into context, the team were one of just six groups selected from over 300 Faraday® Challenge Days held across the UK, involving more than 10,000 pupils.
This year’s engineering brief challenged pupils to design and build an educational toy powered by a battery, aimed at children aged 2 to 5. The toy had to be fun, safe, sustainable and accessible to children with a range of additional needs, including those with visual impairment and neurodiversity. The pupils impressed judges with their innovative concept, inclusive design, working prototype and a confident presentation that demonstrated real teamwork and problem-solving under pressure. They brought home certificates, badges and a £250 prize for the School to invest in engineering opportunities. Congratulations to all involved!
