Nic Patterson Memorial Match

Nic Patterson Memorial Match

The fourth Nic Patterson Memorial Match took place on a sunny evening on the Llanrumney 4G, with a youthful OL side facing the CSL 1st XI.

The game began in a cagey fashion, neither team able to gain a clear advantage. CSL’s renowned defensive organisation held firm early on, but the deadlock was eventually broken when Ollie Powell rose highest to head home from a corner.

The OLs doubled their lead shortly after, with Jack Sellers producing a superb finish, delicately scooping the ball over the goalkeeper. As the game settled, Felix P caused problems down the flank, supported well by George P, stretching the CSL defence.

The second half began with another moment of quality from Sellers, who struck the ball beautifully from outside the box. It bounced beyond the goalkeeper to give the OLs a commanding 3-0 lead.

CSL grew into the game and created several chances, with Sam C going close and Josh S striking the post. Despite their pressure, the OL’s defence held strong, and the match finished 3-0.

It was lovely to see Jane Patterson and her family, and the evening showcased a shared love of football and a strong sense of togetherness, all in memory of Nic Patterson.
