Sports Seminar with Ellis Bevan
23 January 2025
2025 has seen the return of CSL Sport Extra Time with the first in a series of half-termly sports seminars, enabling pupils from Year 7 to 13 to learn more about different fields associated with high performance sport, as well as hearing how high performers manage their training load.
This week we welcomed Cardiff and Wales Rugby scrum half, Ellis Bevan. As a current Welsh Six Nations squad member preparing for the upcoming tournament, Ellis reflected on his sporting journey, the challenges he faced and support he received. Our pupils were able to hear about the workload of a full time athlete and mechanisms in place to support his recovery, strength and conditioning, and analysis (including the power of getting enough sleep!) Thoughtful questions were asked at the end of the talk where Ellis gave feedback on his diet, how he manages nerves before fixtures, and highlights of his career to date. A recording of the seminar will be made available to parents and pupils on Firefly in due course.
We look forward to the next seminar after half term which will focus on recovery, nutrition and sleep, taking a deep dive into aspects that will support our pupils in understanding how to reach their full potential in sport.
