Nursery and Infant Open Morning
Wednesday 13 May 2026
This week, pupils in Years 3 to 10 took part in a deeply reflective and engaging event: The Easter Experience. Designed as a whole-cohort journey, the experience invited learners to explore the Easter narrative in the Chapel through six short, immersive “stations,” each combining storytelling and guided reflection.
At each station, pupils encountered a different moment from the Easter story, exploring themes such as hope, service, remembrance, courage, suffering, and new life. The interactive nature of the experience allowed learners not only to understand these events intellectually, but to engage with them on a personal and emotional level.
The impact on spiritual development was clear. Pupils were given space for quiet reflection, prayer, and personal response, with many able to articulate their thoughts and feelings in thoughtful, age-appropriate ways. Activities such as washing each other's shoes as an act of service, or shaping ribbon to express more difficult emotions, encouraged pupils to connect the story to their own lives.
The experience also supported character education, fostering empathy, resilience, and a deeper understanding of service to others. For older pupils, particularly in Years 9 and 10, the event enriched their Religious Education studies by bringing key elements of Holy Week and Easter to life, supporting their understanding of Christian belief and practice at GCSE level.
Importantly, The Easter Experience also contributed to pupil wellbeing. The calm, structured environment offered a valuable opportunity for stillness and reflection within the busy school day, helping to nurture emotional literacy and a sense of peace and belonging across the school community.
Thank you to Father Gareth for organising this meaningful experience, to the staff and contributors for supporting the project, and to our pupils for the maturity and openness with which they engaged throughout.
