Information Afternoon Year 7 entry 2027
Tuesday 10 November 1645-1730
Belonging matters at CSL and on Wednesday all sections of the school came together to celebrate World Culture Day, thanks to the organisation of the sectional DIRECT (antidiscrimination) groups.
Many pupils came proudly into school in full cultural dress and looked magnificent. The pupils taking part were asked to showcase elements of their culture and reasons why their culture was so important to them. This included traditional dress, artefacts, information on ceremonies, text, places of interest, little known facts, recipes, anecdotes, and music. One Primary pupil has even been able to trace their lineage back many generations and is a certified Princess, something they were very proud to demonstrate.
Many staff and pupils visited each stall to chat to the pupils about their cultures, which included; Argentinian, North and South Indian, Punjabi, Hindi, Russian, Jamaican, Egyptian, Kashmiri, Romanian, Spanish, North and South Chinese, Persian, Mongolian, Shona, Serbian, Australian, South African, Turkish and Cypriot, Hungarian, Pakistani, Maltese, Jewish, Scottish, Irish, Italian, Ukrainian, Thai, Georgian, Sikhism, French, and of course, Welsh.
We are immensely proud of the pupils for the part they played in the day which beautifully demonstrated some of the many cultures and traditions within our one school community.
