Information Afternoon Year 7 entry 2027
Tuesday 10 November 1645-1730
Year 3 enjoyed an exciting and memorable trip to Stonehenge on Tuesday, stepping back in time to discover the mysteries of one of Britain’s most famous prehistoric monuments.
Although the weather was far from kind, with a wet, cold and windy day greeting us, the children didn’t let it dampen their enthusiasm! We began by exploring the museum, where we learned more about the people who built Stonehenge, how they lived and why this remarkable monument may have been constructed.
We also visited the outdoor Neolithic roundhouses, giving us a fascinating glimpse into what life might have been like thousands of years ago. The children were able to imagine themselves living in prehistoric Britain, without the comforts of modern homes.
The highlight of the day was touring Stonehenge itself. Seeing the enormous standing stones up close was an incredible experience, and the children enjoyed spotting important features and discussing how such massive stones could have been transported and raised so long ago. We also looked out for the nearby barrows, the ancient burial mounds that form part of the wider prehistoric landscape.
Despite the challenging weather, Year 3 showed fantastic curiosity, enthusiasm and resilience throughout the visit. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring our history learning to life, and the children returned with plenty of fascinating facts, questions and memories to share.
