Athletic Development & Well-Being Centre

The Cathedral School Athletic Development and Well-Being Centre provides our pupils with an easily accessible space to progress their athletic development, health and well-being. It caters for a variety of uses, including our KS3 PE and KS4 Games lessons, as well as support sessions for our senior first and second teams.

The acquired building was fully converted to suit the needs of our pupils, with their safety and well-being at the focus. All new pupils undertake an induction at the beginning of term to ensure sensible use of the space and the equipment. It is fully equipped with quality equipment, including:

  • Rowing machines
  • Spin bikes
  • Ski Ergs
  • Run rocket sprint resistance machine
  • Multi use rig
  • Barbells
  • Various bumper plates (2.5kg - 25kg), dumbbells (5kg - 30kg) and kettlebells (3kg - 26kg)
  • Slam balls
  • Power bags
  • Instability equipment
  • Medicine balls
  • Squat racks
  • Suspension trainers
  • SAQ equipment

The centre is open between 7.00-8.00am and 4.00-5.00pm, allowing pupils and staff to access it before and after school. To assist them in their training, we have a programme and movement pathway to work through and staff are always on hand to lend support.

A functional movement room, changing facilities and toilets have also been incorporated into the space to create a fully-functioning area for pupils to achieve their fitness goals and take a break from their studies.

The ultimate aim is to improve the athletic abilities of all our young people and further support their overall well-being.
