Senior Open Morning
Wednesday 18 March 2026
Never has a Battle of the Bands been so difficult to call.
After nine years of judging, Mr Steven Rajam admitted he could barely separate the three Houses — but with no draws allowed, a decision had to be made. As ever, the evening opened with the House music videos. Euddogwy edged ahead while Teilo’s strong narrative and slick production kept them right alongside.
On to the live acts, and Dyfrig set the tone beautifully with Life is a Highway, bringing together pupils from Year 7 to Year 13 in a performance full of warmth and House spirit. Euddogwy followed with You’ve Got the Love, and Teilo raised the intensity with Misery Business by Paramore.
Just when it seemed the lead might be slipping away, Dyfrig produced what many felt was the performance of the evening with Second Hand Heart — uplifting, heartfelt and musically assured. Euddogwy’s Livin’ on a Prayer by Bon Jovi brought energy and strong solo moments, while Teilo closed the night with Don’t Look Back in Anger by Oasis — a bold choice that paid off, full of conviction and joy.
In the end, Teilo secured first place, with Euddogwy a very close second and Dyfrig just behind in third. What an evening. The talent, teamwork and House pride on display were outstanding.
