Sporting Success

Sporting Success

It has been another remarkable half term for sport, with pupils excelling across a range of disciplines both locally and nationally.

A number of pupils have achieved outstanding individual success this term:

  • Bryony B (Year 11) ran in the Welsh Road Relay Championships. Her U17 team won, and Bryony ran the fastest leg out of all other girls on the day.
  • Dylan C (Year 13) enjoyed a standout sailing season, making the Gold Fleet at the World Championships and finishing 3rd at the British Nationals.
  • Gabriel E-E was part of the South Wales Dragons team that won the U13 National Regional Hockey Tournament in Nottingham.
  • Carys H (Year 11) represented Wales at the Inter-Regional Track Cycling Championships in Glasgow, competing a year early as one of only two U16 endurance riders. She has now been selected for the British Cycling Road and Track Endurance Development Squad for 2025–26.
  • Emilia J (Year 13) has once again been selected to represent Wales Swimming for the upcoming season.
  • Ralph K and Nathan V (Year 8) have been named in the Glamorgan Cricket U13 Squad — an impressive achievement as the summer squads are rarely released so early.
  • Corey G and Henry R (Year 11) have served as captains for Cardiff Schools Rugby, with Josh S also part of the squad.
  • Dan R (Year 11) has been selected for the Wales Golf Under 18 Squad for the 2025–26 season.
  • Ben T (Year 11) represented Wales U18 Hockey in Turkey over the summer.
  • Six Primary pupils represented CSL at the Welsh Schools Ski Championships in Llangrannog. Bo M (Year 4), Evvie M (Year 5), and Aryan L (Year 5) placed 2nd in the team event. Additionally, Bo finished 2nd overall in the mini boy category and 1st in the U10 boy category, and Evvie placed 2nd in the U12 girl category. Toby D (8T), Alex S-D (8E) and Cameron M (8D) also placed 2nd in the boys’ team competition, with Alex finishing 3rd in the U14 boys. The boys’ team have now qualified for the British Schools Championships in Swadlincote next month.

Within school, there has also been plenty to celebrate.

    • The 1st VII Netball team have progressed to the finals of the Presidents Cup following a series of strong performances.
    • The 1st XI Hockey team’s 1–0 win against Haberdashers’ at our Friday Night Lights fixture brought the school community together for a fantastic evening of sport and support.
    • Earlier in the term, a 1st XI Hockey fixture against Wycliffe made history with three sets of sisters playing together.
