Enhancing awareness of the incredible range of possibilities available to our pupils is a key element of our careers education and guidance provision.
Throughout their journey through school, we give pupils opportunities to engage with activities that inspire them as their ideas develop. This week, Year 10 attended the Wales Talent4Tech event at the ICC, Newport. The day was packed with opportunities to visit a wide range of exhibitors offering interactive activities, from virtual reality environments and racing to robot programming and escape rooms. Sectors represented included healthcare, gaming, sustainability, cybersecurity, finance, the creative industries and space exploration technology, along with talks covering careers in these areas and explaining how AI is transforming industries.
With huge demand for skills in the tech sector, the event encouraged pupils to visualise their future career paths and connect directly with leading tech employers. They explored career opportunities, experienced interactive demo zones showcasing the latest innovations, and gained insights from inspiring industry speakers. They also learnt about training, career support and pathways into tech roles (and took home plenty of cool free tech items!)
The trip was both enjoyable and thought-provoking, giving Year 10 valuable insights into how science and tech underpin nearly everything we do in life, and hopefully sparking some future career ambitions along the way.
