Year 13 Chemists visit Swansea University

As part of their A Level Chemistry studies, our Year 13 students enjoyed a day trip to Swansea University.
They participated in a series of hands-on organic chemistry experiments linked to their WJEC A Level course. It was a brilliant opportunity to experience university-level lab work and see organic chemistry in action. They were also set the challenge of creating a comprehensive mind map summarising all of the key reactions, reagents and mechanisms they’ve been studying over the last year. The task was designed to help consolidate understanding and provide an excellent visual aid for revising Unit 4. All 18 submissions were outstanding, showing creativity, precision and deep understanding, but three stood out for their exceptional clarity and detail. Congratulations to our top chemists Ayush M, Katy R and Myles C, whose work was judged the best of the group. Each received a reward for their effort and achievement.
