Discovery Day
(Year 7 entry 2026 only)
Thursday 5 June 2025
Year 6 recently returned from an unforgettable adventure to Normandy; an enriching experience that brought history to life while offering plenty of opportunities for fun and discovery.
Pupils were captivated by the grandeur of Mont Saint-Michel, where panoramic views and towering spires sparked awe and curiosity. Visits to the American, German and Commonwealth cemeteries provided quiet moments of reflection, deepening pupils’ understanding of the human stories behind the events of World War II. Exploring the D-Day landing sites, including the renowned Omaha Beach, also offered a powerful insight into the region’s wartime significance. The historical thread continued in Bayeux, where pupils marvelled at the iconic Bayeux Tapestry. Seeing the events of the Norman Conquest depicted so vividly offered a unique and engaging link to their curriculum studies.
The trip also gave pupils time to relax and enjoy the company of friends. From exploring the grounds of their picturesque château accommodation to sharing French cuisine and dancing at a lively disco, there was no shortage of fun. Year 6 represented the school with maturity, curiosity and kindness throughout, and we’re incredibly proud of the way they embraced every opportunity.
